Hi! I’m Cristina Lopes, the founder of Cortex and a jump rope enthusiast since 2021. What began as a simple way to stay active quickly turned into a passion — and soon after, a need: why wasn’t there a rope that truly felt personal, unique and inspired by our Portuguese roots?

I kept searching for something that stood out… something that felt like mine. Since I couldn’t find it, I decided to create it.

For me, the answer was obvious: cork — a material that represents Portugal’s nature, culture, and innovation. But I didn’t want to just add cork. I wanted it to be part of the soul of the product.
So every rope we make features a hand-stitched cork wrap, crafted by me, one by one, with care and intention. No machine can replicate that feeling — the warmth of natural cork, the smooth texture, the uniqueness of each stitch.
